ORIGAMI - Sculptural design and japanese spirit

Project for Mobilier de France

ORIGAMI, furniture collection inspired by Japanese folding, designed for Mobilier de France by Joly Design in 2022.

The ORIGAMI Collection

The ORIGAMI furniture collection for Mobilier de France draws its identity from the traditional art of Japanese folding. It translates the precision, lightness, and elegance of origami into a bold geometric language. Each piece evokes the gesture of a folded form, frozen in three-dimensional volume. The design relies on clean, continuous lines, where sharp transitions enhance clarity and visual rhythm.

Graphic minimalism and defined forms

The ORIGAMI pieces stand out with a distinct graphic silhouette shaped by tight angles and faceted surfaces. Each plane unfolds like a coherent visual sequence. This structured minimalism strikes a balance between sculptural presence and everyday usability. By merging formal abstraction with functionality, the collection establishes a recognizable visual signature—refined yet never excessive.

Diverse typologies and cohesive design

The ORIGAMI collection includes a wide range of typologies: sideboards, consoles, display cabinets, media units, coffee tables, and storage modules. Every configuration maintains the graphic unity and proportion integrity of the overall line. Functional features are discreetly integrated—flush doors, hidden cutouts, and either symmetrical or asymmetrical modules, depending on the piece.

Premium materials and high-end finishes

Each material is carefully selected to ensure both durability and refined tactile quality. The collection features expertly finished wood, resistant high-gloss lacquer, and custom-crafted premium bases. Every element is built to last, reinforcing a design statement that is both demanding and timeless.
