MK1991, Italian pedestal sofa design for Moorki by Joly Design in 2023.
The MK1991 model for Moorki belongs to the tradition of classic contemporary design, with a clearly identifiable Italian signature. Its formal expression is built on a balance between line simplicity, control of solids and voids, harmony of proportions, fluid readability, and strong visual continuity. Resting on a discreet and seamlessly integrated pedestal, the structure elevates the whole while subtly lightening its visual weight and reinforcing its presence within the space.
The volumes are generous and rounded, with smooth transitions that suggest a natural and enveloping comfort. Moreover, the lines convey a controlled and continuous softness, expressing an instinctive yet refined invitation to use. As a result, the whole stands out with a confident presence, free from decorative effect, where everything relies on the precise and deliberate balance of proportions between seat, backrest, and pedestal.
As a fully modular model, the MK1991 Italian pedestal sofa accommodates various configurations: straight, corner, chaise, or terminal module. Importantly, this flexibility never compromises the coherence of the overall design. Each combination preserves the elegance of the pedestal and the consistency of the curved forms. Additionally, discreetly integrated wooden shelves add functionality without disrupting the formal integrity of the piece. They extend the seat line and reinforce the sofa’s role in everyday living—fluid, intuitive, and refined.
Beneath its generous volumes, the structure rests on a solid wood base, providing strength without excess bulk. Textiles and leathers follow the continuous curvature of the seat and backrest, enhancing both shape and touch. Above all, the construction highlights precise joinery, uninterrupted lines, and a tactile sensitivity that reflects material quality at every level.
